For Interop, a network called “ShowNet” has been constructed in the exhibition and conference halls.
“ShowNet” is a network for providing Internet services for exhibitors in the exhibition hall, conference instructors and visitors. The exhibition booths are connected with ShowNet to send a real message as a “live demonstration” to visitors.

This network has been constructed by interoperating the network equipment and services of exhibitors. As you may know, the name of this event is derived from the term “interoperability. ” ShowNet is exclusively designed for interoperability testing.

ShowNet is a large-scale network for demonstrations. When you experience ShowNet, which has been constructed based on expertise in Japan and abroad, you will have a dynamic view of the evolution of services and technologies.

ShowNet is designed with a different theme each year. It is also the world’s largest network for demonstrating network equipment and technologies, enabling visitors to see the service architecture of the near future actually running. The theme of ShowNet this year is “Internet Evolutions.” It will showcase the latest Internet technologies, which are becoming more advanced as networks become more diversified, including Internet core, access, and application services.

ShowNet consists of the state-of-the-art network equipment and services provided by the “ShowNet Sponsorship Program.” Company specialists in equipment and solutions take part and work with the Network Operation Center (NOC) team members, who have the highest levels of expertise and experience, to create the latest networks. This collaboration is supported by ShowNet Team Members (STMs), a team of volunteers publicly recruited. ShowNet is built and operated through strong collaboration between NOC, the ShowNet Sponsorship Program, and the STM
Around 300 people from 70 organizations including academic research institutes, vendors and service providers take part in the construction of ShowNet, and work hard over a period of about nine months to prepare and build it. This network is a melting pot for producing novel ideas and know-how.

InteropNet/ShowNet incorporate the technologies expected to draw attention in the future by using the prevailing cutting-edge technologies. At the ShowNet Special Session, the hottest topics are selected from all elements associated with ShowNet, from concept development and team formation to design, implementation and operation, and NOC Team Members who are passionate about these elements will talk about what can be done with the technology, the implementation methods and the future outlook.
